The Align Ultra Cog turns any geared hub into a clean, reliable singlespeed setup. Machined from hardened steel and supplied with a set of tapered spacers, it lets you place the cog exactly where you want it rather than settling for whatever the stack gives you.
The tapered spacers are the reason for the name. Flat spacers leave the cog free to sit slightly off-centre or rock under load. The tapered faces wedge against the cog and centre it precisely on the freehub, holding it dead straight. A perfectly centred cog means a straight chainline — the chain runs without side-loading through the rollers, so less of your pedalling effort is lost to friction and more of it reaches the rear wheel. You also get quieter running, slower chain and sprocket wear, and far fewer dropped chains on rough ground.
Deep, full-height teeth grip the chain properly. Pair the Align Ultra with a tensioner and it stays put through dirt jumps, drops and hard XC efforts. It's reversible too, so once one side wears you can flip it and carry on.
